Quotations from Argentina 1986-2014
Buenos Aires, Argentina (sigh). The city is, simply, my second home. Apart from Chicago, where I grew up, I have spent more time there than (almost) anywhere else. I think I have more friends in Buenos Aires than in any other single city. I came as a backpacker in 1986 and fell in love (in several ways). I have revisited the city a number of times. I lived and did research there in 1996-97. For over 22 years I have been documenting the city, its people, places, and political activities more intensely than any other place. For this reason I have divided my images into several different categories. Many of these images were used in my dissertation on youth activism. If you would like to know a little more about my research and writings visit the "About the Artist" pages.
Images of the spectacular beauty of Argentina, its parks, glaciers, Patagonia, can be seen in the "Nature's Way" portfolio.
I have a portfolio "cafés of the World." In it are a few images from Buenos Aires seen here, but many are unique to that portfolio, and not on display here (so go there if you wish to see more).
The vast majority of these images were taken with my Leica M-6 and 50mm 1.4 Leitz Lens. A few were shot with my Olympus XA-II with its fixed 35mm f2.8 lens. All were shot with 35mm film and scanned on a Nikon Coolscan 9000. The images from 2014 were taken with my Lumix GF1. As explained in the portfolios for 2014, I shot all digital. All images were processed in Adobe Lightroom.
