While in Buenos Aires for a month, I wanted to see a city in Argentina I hadn't visited. I decided on Mendoza, near the foothills of the Andes. Mendoza is the jumping off point to climb the hemisphere's tallest mountain, Mt. Aconcagua (see photos in the "Nature's Way" portfolio), and is also the center of Argentina's wine region. So, a little hiking, and a little (ok a lot) of drinking! It was a great few days away from the heat and grittiness of Buenos Aires.
