I had no idea who this was. My friend and I were hitchhiking to Amsterdam. We got a ride from a Belgian journalist going to cover the last day of the Groningen Jazz Fest. He had an extra pass and invited us along, and dropped us off in Amsterdam early the next morning. Sun Ra was the closing act, scheduled to take the stage at midnight. Talk about long, strange trips. Wow!
