Santana - B'Ginnings, Schaumberg, IL - fall 1978

Santana was scheduled to play as a warm up band for Boston for a "World Series of Rock" show at Comisky Park. This was near the end of those big summer extravaganzas and Boston did not sell enough tickets, so the show was cancelled. As much as I wished to see Santana, I wasn't going to shell out the $$ for a Boston concert. Well, with the cancellation, I was driving home from work when they announced on WXRT that Santana, having already arrived in Chicago, set-up a show for this same night at a small bar! The DJ laughed and said tickets were probably way gone, even though the show was just announced a few hours before. Well, I went immediately to a ticket outlet and scored 4 tickets! The band was awesome!!
