Où est la Tour Eiffel? / Where is the Eiffel Tower?

In Spring 2005 I taught anthropology in Paris. Every morning on my way to classes I walked by the Eiffel Tower. I became interested in this monument not so much as an icon per se, but how it "blended" into the city's streets and parks. I was interested in the matter-of-fact-ness of its existence for Parisians, and temporary residents like me. Its mundane-ness. It became a kind of game: "Où est la Tour Eiffel?" / "Where is the Eiffel Tower?"
